Behind the "Tem"...

Miss Brant and Mrs. Brant-Terry are far from experts in education, but they strive to inspire teachers - new and experienced - to explore the limitless possibilities of what it means to be an educator.

Miss Brant and Mrs. Brant-Terry are a mother-daughter duo. They are best friends,  self-proclaimed professional shoppers, and can watch way too many episodes of "Say Yes to the Dress" in one sitting. Undoubtedly, however, teaching is their purpose, their talent, their hobby - their life!

When Miss Brant  was in Kindergarten, she decided to surprise Mrs. Brant-Terry with a letter - her first letter - to tell her just how much she loved her mom.

Mrs. Brant-Terry used to always say "we are a team," because they shared such a special bond. Yet, according to six-year old Miss Brant, they were more than a "team" but rather  "we are a tem."

Who is Miss Brant?

Kiera Brant is an aspiring teacher, currently completing her Bachelor of Education in Ottawa, Ontario. She believes the best teacher isn't afraid to laugh, to learn, and to grow alongside their students. Miss Brant wants nothing more than to help her students find their purpose and to share this gift with the world.

Who is Mrs. Brant-Terry?

Gail Brant-Terry has been in education for over twenty five years, twelve as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, system teacher and thirteen years as a school administrator.  She believes in every child.  She is a mom first and teacher second, ensuring she treats every child exactly how she has always wanted her own precious children to be treated. She believes if we as educators  model and nurture love, compassion, perseverance, and resilience with a sense of  humour, the end result will be children
who believe in themselves and reach their highest potential.

Why the Blog?

Miss Brant and Mrs. Brant-Terry decided to collaborate on the blog for many reasons. Here are a few:
  • To share their "Drive-thru PD"
    • Miss Brant and Mrs. Brant-Terry spend their lives talking about education - on the phone, out for runs, and most often in the car. They decided to put their hours of informal "professional development" into writing.
  • For Miss Brant's classes
    • Miss Brant is currently completing her B. of Ed, and one of her inspiring professors Shauna Pollock is encouraging her student teachers to embrace technology, and to utilize the unimaginable networking opportunities for teachers, students, and parents. Eventually, you might see Miss Brant "hand-in" an assignment on the blog!
  • To inspire the new and the experienced teacher
    • Miss. Brant and Mrs. Brant-Terry are far from experts - but they wish to start a conversation about being life-long learners, reflective practitioners, and creative teachers, who do it all for their students.
